Peer Support

Every Wednesday (4:00p.m. — 5:00p.m.) queer refugees and refugee claimants meet to socialize and play board games. We also offer community activities such as social drop-ins, workshops, and celebrations for anyone who is both an LGBTQIA newcomer and was forcibly displaced by persecution based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and sexual characteristics (SOGIESC). We cover activities such as dancing, discussion on queer arts and spirituality, health relationship workshops, support and discussion on mental health, info sessions on name changes, tax filing, Trans Day of Remembrance, learning about decolonization, Pride, sharing food recipes and food talk, and story/art sharing on empowerment of the community. The activities are organized through our members' inputs, feedback, and needs assessment, and they usually happen on Sundays.

Peer Support

A group of racialized 2SLGBTQI+ community members who gather for monthly meals, workshops, and other events both online and in-person. We are a group that primarily gathers online, which means people connect from many territories, but are mainly based on the Lekwungen Homelands. People in our collective have a wide range of relationships to the land, including local Indigenous peoples with deep ancestral connections and newcomers who have recently arrived as immigrants or refugees. We honour and uphold Indigenous sovereignty here and around the world with immense gratitude for the land stewards and protectors.

Come meet parents, caregivers, and close adult family members of trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit children and youth. Our group centres a gender-affirming approach to support caregivers, wherever they are at, as they navigate staying in connection with their trans child. This group is facilitated by trans adults who are experienced working with trans children, youth, and parents and caregivers.
